Emergency Veterinary Authorization

Version 2026-08-08.1 · Effective 2026-08-08

Your standing authorisation for us to obtain veterinary treatment if your animal needs it and you cannot be reached.

Draft — pending review by qualified counsel

This document is a structurally complete draft written by the development team so the acceptance and versioning machinery could be built and tested. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and must not be relied on as legal advice. Passages marked [OWNER: …] or [COUNSEL: …] require a decision before publication.

Contacting you first

If your animal appears unwell or injured we will try to reach you on the number on your booking, and then your named emergency contact.

Authorisation

If neither of you can be reached and, in the reasonable judgement of our staff or a veterinarian, treatment is needed to prevent suffering or to preserve life, you authorise us to obtain that treatment.

Choice of veterinarian

We will use your animal's own veterinarian where practical and reachable; otherwise the nearest available practice or emergency hospital. [OWNER: name the default practice and out-of-hours emergency hospital.]

Cost

You are responsible for the cost of veterinary treatment. [OWNER + COUNSEL: state whether a spending cap applies before further attempts to contact you, and how costs are invoiced.]

Withdrawing it

You may withdraw or vary this authorisation in writing before a stay begins. We may decline a booking if we cannot obtain a workable authorisation.
